Best Network Backup Solution?
November 30th, 2009 Posted by: admin
We’re considering a backup solution for our small business network, and we’re looking into many solutions (tape backup, external hard drives, Network Attached Storage). I’m leaning toward using NAS with a program such as Norton Ghost due to cost. Speed is not an issue, but reliability is. Any considerations as to why we should buy a $4500 tape backup with autoloader as opposed to, say, a couple of 500GB/1TB NAS drives which can be rotated offsite for about 1/5 the cost? We’ve just never had a backup solution here, and I’m new to all of this, and need advice. Thanks.

Music for my zune on external hard drive and not my PC hard drive?
November 30th, 2009 Posted by: admin
I need to free up space on my PC’s hard drive. Can I have all of the music on my zune put into my external hard drive, without it being on my PC’s hard drive?

How do I recover data from a USB Thumbdrive?
November 30th, 2009 Posted by: admin
My friend wanted me to help him reformat his hard drive. When I booted to the Windows XP CD and deleted partitions, I accidentally deleted the USB thumb drive data which was still plugged into the laptop. (Stupid stupid!!!!!)
1 CommentNow, the USB thumb drive is in a completely unreadable RAW format.
Does anyone have any recommended programs or suggestions as to how to recover data from his USB thumb drive? I tried lots of google searching with no viable answers.
Thank you!

Why can’t my disk drive read any of my cd’s anymore?
November 30th, 2009 Posted by: admin
I just got a Gateway laptop about 4 months ago. 5 days ago my disk drive stopped playing cd’s and sorfware I put into it. It’ll get into the computer and make skipping sounds for a few seconds and that’s it. I didn’t drop my computer or anything. The night before it was working just fine. What could be the problem?

How do I back up and restore files in Mac OS X?
November 30th, 2009 Posted by: admin
I actually have Time Machine already set up. I’m thinking of reformatting my hard disk. Will Time Machine be enough to back up and restore ALL files after reformatting?

what tips do you have for reinstalling windows vista home premium?
November 30th, 2009 Posted by: admin
i will be getting my new desktop in 3days from dell, i know that it will be full of usless crap like dell help, earthlink, etc. so i’ll be formating the hard drive and reinstalling the os. questions are:
- do i need to partition the hdd into 50gb os; 50gb programs and 250gb for files and documents
- i have an old 20gb hdd, can i use it as a pagefile drive? will vista home premium benefit from it?
- i also have a 5gb flash drive that i don’t use frequently, can i use it as a ReadyBoost drive? can i just leave it in the usb port permanently?
- do you have any other tweaks that i can try on my new desktop?

Change IDE to SATA on already installed xp pro?
November 30th, 2009 Posted by: admin
In my computer i only have 1 hard disk, 1 DVD-RW, and no floppy drives. The hard disk is hooked into the motherboard by a SATA cable and not and IDE. When i tried to install XP Pro it at first didn’t detect my hard disk. I went into BIOS and changed the drive type to IDE from SATA in order for it to show up in installation screen of XP Pro. XP runs fine like it is setup, but i want the drive type to say SATA in the BIOS instead of IDE. Is there anyway to do this?
