Why is my HDD showing wrong drive size?

Diamond Max 21 320GB HDD stm3320620A. Well this drive is my secondary hard drive. It is my back up drive and has all my legal and important paperwork, all my family pictures and stuff of that sort.

My primary drive Windows XP Pro had problems from a virus that caused me to have to reformat. After I did that I haven’t been able to access my full drive. In properties it shows it as a 34 gig total and 33 free. In Disk Management it shows it as a 298.09 gig healthy (active) NTFS Online basic. Disk 1.

If I run SeaTools from seagate.com both the Bios and the windows it shows drive as passed healthy and all good sectors. It has NEVER made loud clicking knocking or grinding nosies its been a perfect drive until that reformat. I have has this drive for 2 years max and my case stays cool.

I cannot afford to lose the data on that drive otherwise I would just reformat the drive. Which when I go to format drive it shows it as a 298 Gig. Any information u need to help me let me know. Thank U
Those 2 answers didn’t work.
Also my drive is in the same place as it has been for 2 years the drive is fine and partition magic shows it correctly as 320 as well but my OS just can’t see it as 320 or access the files.

It is on CS on its own IDE cable. My main drive is SATA and my DVD drive is on a SATA as well. I have changed the IDE cables moved the HDD on to dif spots on the cable. I have moved the jumpers. I have ran disk checks. I can still save stuff and read them on the empty 34 gigs but cannot read the files that where on the hard drive before formatting.
File Recovery for windows DEMO version found here : http://services.seagate.com/diysoftware.aspx Shows all my files intact and where they should be on the drive. Problem is it wont restore them unless I buy the product which atm I don’t have the money. So if someone wants to let me know if theres another product cheaper that works the same let me know please. Or if there is any other ideas as to what I can do now that you know that Seagate’s FILE RECOVERY for Windows can still read the files and says there healthy?

Windows uses part of your hard drive for virtual memory, also a small portion is reserved for disc images. It just depends if its figuring in these factors.

CHECK YOUR JUMPERS on your hard drive try TO see if your jumper setting is right try to change the slave and master order on it ,or just try to leave the jumper as normal (not slave and master) and disconnect your CD rom cable connect it to
same other hard drive now. if you start you will see 2 drive C and I think D (which D should be the second hard drive see if you can see all 290+ GIG)
