Should I use a new empty hard drive for photoshop elements or should I use my Default Hard Drive?

Okay I Installed Photoshop Elements in my computer, and every time I use it My Main hard drive’s space drops. I just want to know If it a good idea to use a spare hard drive for photoshop elements?
I mean from is this. should I use a spare hard drive as a scratch disk.
