You drive me crazy.

If I connect the power cord of the sata2 drive, pc doesn’t boot, it flashes the green power light for a sec like its gonna boot up, then shut downs immediately.

Without WD drive connected, everything works. I have 2 IDE drives, they work perfectly, but once sata2 is connected, pc doesn’t boot. Doesn’t even goto POST. Just starts and shuts down in like half a second.

I had the hard drive replaced in case it was broken at the shop.

I bough a new sata2 power cord just in case that was damaged too.

I once tried to boot it up and It had worked once, then I detached the cable and reattached it, it did the shut down thing again.
I tried again many times but didn’t have any success thereafter except that one time.
Bios was updated to latest version

2 sata1 connectors, 1 sata2 connector.

I tryed all possible jumper settings.
IF I PUT jumpers to 3 and 4, then pc boots up, but that jumper position is to enable PUIS (Power Up and Stand By). Bios finds hard drive, but cant find its name or size or any other details.

If I don’t use that jumper position, it doesnt start at all. No bios, no post, even monitor doesnt start up (receives no signal).

I once tried to connect a hard drive to the same ribbon as a DVD drive and it didn’t work. Could it be that wasent paying attention to the master/slave jumpers, or is it just not possable to have both on one ribbon?

I built a computer that has one IDE connector and 4 SATA connectors. I have 1 IDE HDD and 1 IDE DVD-RW as well as a SATA DVD-RW. The IDE one doesn’t work with as many disks as the SATA. I am wanting to make the SATA the primary disk. This is for a Windows Vista system. How do I make the SATA the primary DVD drive instead of the IDE?

I am running XP now and want to add a second ide hard drive to run Linux with, if I add it as a slave drive it wont boot Linux will it? Advice? Thanks!
I dont want to mess with or partition the first hard drive that has XP on it, thats why I am getting a second hard drive.
