have problem with external cd-rom drive?

every time i turn it on, the light would blink and not stop. I put CD in and it still does that, even if CD isnt inside. I cant access anything in my computer while the light is blinking. whats going on>

Eee PC 900, Linux system?

I have an Asus Eee PC 900 with Linux, I purchased an external CD ROM drive & I want to install Norton 360. Can i do this or not? The Norton 360 says it’s for Windows XP or Vista.

I just replaced my old computer with a new one and I am about to move my files from the old one to the new one. The CD rom drive on the old computer no longer works and I was wondering if I could use the external drive instead.

It says the device cannot start error code 10? The only problem is that the bios recognizes it but it doesnt show up in my computer. In the device manager theres a symbol next to it which is saying theres a problem but i cant figure out whats wrong.

my computer says my cd-rom drive is inactive. how do i make both of my cd-rom drives active again?

i recently tried to burn a disc using windows media player. I was prompted to connect a burner and restart the player. I have 2 cd/dvd drives and I know they are both good. I have tried to reinstall the programs using the discs that came with each drive, but if the drives are not functioning, of course I cannot install programs.

When i got my computer we set up a printer and a game, then my dad down loaded porn, we caled da company they told us PC Recovery, we did it we redownloaded the printer and it wouldn’t dwnload my game, a month later my dad did it again, so we did PC Recovery again, and now it wont dwnload anything unless its off the internet. PLEASE help!

why has my cd rom drive stopped working on Windows XP?

More Details, The Cd Rom does show up under my Computer as drive D:/ When you open the drive door is does accept the cd and it will play music cd’s. It just will not run data from a program such as D:setup.exe. The drivers are in place and the system hardware manager shows the drive name, under drive properties, it shows that the drive is enabled and working properly. But it ain’t working. All programs that I try to install just sit there. Thanks for all your help, but we haven’t hit on the problem yet. I think it is a simple little windows xp thing, but I haven’t found it yet. All suggestions would be appreciated.

My computer was passed down to me by a relative and it’s about 7 years old and a Pentium 3.But suddenly it stopped working.Like, when i put in a CD it says that there isn’t a CD in there.Same with my DVD Drive.Anyone how to fix it without buying a new drive?

because it not working properly or causing a resource conflict. I try to enable it but windowas not able to do that. What else can I do? please help.
