Can I effectively erase a Mac HD by formatting it for PC?
December 6th, 2009 Posted by: admin
I recently purchased a defective external hard drive and formatted for a Mac. The drive proved to be defective and the Mac’s Disk Utility program wasn’t able to zero the drive. I did a simple erase, used a tape degausser and reformatted it for PC. Would any of my Mac files be recoverable even though they’re not seen?

fresh xp install (hard drive issue)?
November 24th, 2009 Posted by: admin
i have 2 hard drives, a 40gb master (which crashed and had xp on it) and a 160gb slave (working fine, used for extra storage)… the 40gb is no longer working along with my os of course, and windows is no longer booting up. My question is, when installing a fresh copy of xp, can i just use the current working 160gb to install to? or should i replace the 40gb with a new hd and add the OS to that? would the 160gb need to be re-formatted if used?

External hard drive for windows vista 64bit?
November 22nd, 2009 Posted by: admin
Hi, I’m about to purchase a high capacity external drive, I almost bought the western digital 1tb hd because of the esata port, but after some research I found out that they don’t work quite well on vista 64 bit edition. My question is, does anyone knows about an external (high capacity) hard drive that actually works fine with vista 64bit?

Planning on formatting a computer with two hard drives?
November 21st, 2009 Posted by: admin
I bought a computer from ebay that has two hard drives installed and working properly. I would like to format the computer to get it like new. I’ve done this on single HD’s but not on a system with two installed.
3 CommentsThe HD’s: 2 IDE 20gb’s.
How should I go about doing this? I don’t really care about optimizing it. I would be happy with having the OS on one drive and using the other for storage.
So, first, can I do this the traditional way and are there any differences?
If not, how do I do it? Is there a guide anywhere?

Windows will not install on my new sata hard drive. What should I do?
November 16th, 2009 Posted by: admin
I just bought a new 250g Samsung sata HD. I already had a 40g IDE DH. I took out my old HD and put in the new sata. When installing windows, it wanted a verified copy of windows in the CD drive before it would continue. I already had my window xp home 2nd edition in the tray, and so i pressed enter for it to use that. It still asks that i give it a verified copy. When installing this same disk on my old HD, it gave me no problems. What can i do to get this to install? The Sata HD has nothing on it, and the xp disk is legit.

How can I adapt my new 2.5″ SATA Internal Drive to work on my IDE Mac Mini?
November 13th, 2009 Posted by: admin
I bought a Hitatchi Travelstar 2.5″ 7200RPM 200GB internal drive for my Mac Mini but did not know that my Mini runs off a IDE connection. The new drive is SATA. I am replacing the busted factory HD so I can’t just stick it in a case and use it externaly. The mini is the 1.42ghz G4. I know the new ones are SATA. any one want to buy this thing?!?!?
