http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3827914&CatId=2406 - Motherboard/Processor combo.

now that usb hard dive come in 1TB(1000GB) it would be simple to save my DVD colection to a HDD and playback from the HDD. I have seen some thing like this on MTV cribs, I think.

right now i have the hdd booting first. i think all i need to do is get into the bios setup to change the boot order. is there any other way do do this?

How to clean up a failing computer?
October 25th, 2009 Posted by: admin
A family member has a failing computer running XP Pro whereas I have a spare drive on my own computer with an unused XP Pro installation already set up. My idea is to back up all his files/folders etc using the Back Up facility within Windows Live OneCare and then set him up on my spare drive. All XP installations in this house have passed Microsoft validation however, he does not have an installation CD but I can get his Product Key. I have two questions. What is the best method of preparing a computer for a fresh installation of XP Pro (is formatting the HDD too extreme)? Secondly, if I use my installation CD to re-install XP Pro on his computer but when the time comes to enter a Product Key, I enter HIS Product Key rather than my own, can that work? Are Product Keys only specific to the program/application being installed or are they specific to the individual installation CD being used?

Hard disk installation?
October 14th, 2009 Posted by: admin
I got a sort-of old computer and it has no hard disk/drive, unless it’s hidden in the power box somehow?… When I turn it on it asks you to press F1 and after that it says “please insert sytem disk and press enter.” (Operating system installation software I assume)
Anyway, what I want to do is install a hard disk. So I got a 60 gb one and tried to install it just by connecting the power and info cables–I don’t know if there’s more to it than that or what–but when I turned the computer on again after connecting it, nothing showed up on the screen (this hard disk has been wiped-I don’t know if this has anything to do with the problem)…… What do I need to do to install it successfully?
Also, what is the difference between the blue and black ATA connectors on the motherboard? And does it matter whether you use a 40 wire cable or 80 wire cable to connect a CD/DVD drive or HDD?
