Can my Vista Hard Drive work with my XP Motherboard?

I have a Vista Hard drive that i want to put in my HP. But the problem is that the HP’s motherboard is xp. I was wondering if i put it in will it fit? And if it fits what will my operating system be.. Vista or XP? All help is appreciated.

2.0ghz(i think) amd athlon xp 2800+
1.5(512+1024)gb ram
160gb hard drive
standard graphics card…i think 64mb
9-in-1 memory card ready
originally 7 now 5 usb ports
dvd and cd-rw drives (2 separate)
windows xp home
17″acer lcd

I’m planning on selling this on ebay because we moved and i dont have room for it so im using the laptop and am planning on buying a 23″ samsung lcd hdtv :P

Can i transfer all my personal information to an external hard drive in safe mode?

I need to perform a system recovery. I want to save all my personal information first to an external hard drive. My computer only works in safe mode. Can this be done? How?
My external hard drive won’t appear in the drive list in My Computer. Any ideas? I have an HP Pavilion, running Vista Home Premium.

Installing windows XP on a laptop with a SATA hard disk?

Hello,

I want to re-install windows on my new HP DV2197 latop (as it came with a XP Home and I want to upgrade it to XP PRO) as I like a clean machine, but when I booted from my windows XP Pro CD it gave me a message that there is no drive installed on the computer, apperantly Windows XP PRO can not install on a SATA hard drive.

Any suggestions

My CD/DVD drive isn’t working but device manager says that it is?

I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 and I got it Jan 1st 2008. The other day I was importing some cds on my iTunes and in the middle of the import i accidentally ejected the disc. Since then I haven’t been able to get my cd/dvd drive to work. It won’t read or burn a cd/dvd :’( I’ve tried restoring my laptop to a date prior to the mishap, i’ve called hp and they trouble shooted me through bios, i’ve installed the driver and reinstalled, and i’ve tried to update the drivers (every time i do it says ‘device is up to date’) I’VE TRIED EVERYTHING! Device manager says that the device is still working right but it’s not!

How can I find and download drivers for the HP USB PG088AA web cam?

I’ve lost the software for my webcams and cannot find the drivers on my old computer while I need to install on my new computer. I’ve been all over the HP websites and the closest I’ve gotten is to be told the drivers are not available in US English.

Is it okay to leave an USB external hard drive plugged in, Indefinitely?

I just got my first, and I just need to know if it will harm the USB port or the hard Drive itself, I would rather not use my internal hard drive as it only has 67GB total, yeah I got screwed over with that.
My computer is an HP Pavilion a410e Built in Jan. 2004, If this helps.

My CD/DVD drive stopped working, what do I do?

I have an hp pavilion 783c. I’ve recently upgraded my graphics card and upgraded to 2 Gigs of RAM. After I installed my RAM, the cd/dvd drives stopped working. Was wondering if this could be the power supply?
