(Please/Thank You) Why The F*** Won’t This Seagate Format?

I just got done messing w/a SECOND Seagate ATA hard drive. The damned thing won’t format?!?! I don’t get it. Are they just clearing out their warehouses of defective Caca? I’ve had to manually partition & format (attempted) both drives. Seagate’s down-loadable utilities has failed both drives, too (Generic short & long tests). Tech support is worthless. Any ideas before I return another one….

Oh yeah, this is an established system I built several years ago. Master is a WD. All jumpers are set right, plus cables, & drivers.

Windows XP won’t format, no way, no how. Seagate utilities only says “Failed.” Doesn’t say porque. Seagate DOS.iso download wouldn’t work (load @reboot). It’s sitting there, recognized by XP, just useless (other than aggravation).

My hard drive won’t give me the full about of GB, Someone please help?

My hard drive is a Sata and the brand is Seagate I believe. My hard drive is suppose to hold 512gb but it only allows me to use 128gb. Could someone please tell me how I can get the full 512gb?
Curtis, I did what you said and it said that 337.77gb are unlocated. How can I get these to be primary partition?

do externals surpass the ceiling on my computer?

my computer will only recognize hard drives up to120gb. can i plug in a swapable external hard drive that is larger and still use that? should i partition the external into 120gb chunks, could it be used as-is, or is 120 all i’ll be able to get?

Blocked access to My Document Folders when HDD moved to another PC?

I had to move my friends HDD into my PC . I have to backup all his information onto a partition on my PC, because the Hard drive making the Clicking noises and obviously it will fail soon.

When i tried to directly copy all the contents of his My Documents folder, it denied me access, like it would if you were a low access user trying to get into the admin’s my documents folder.

I can’t put the HDD back into his computer, load windows, and removed admin rights from his user account, because the HDD doesn’t let me. Any hep on this?
The user login is password protected. Is there any other possible way to access it then?

Do I need to partition my hard drive to use a ghosting program?

For right now I’m just going to back up files the traditional way but I may want to use the same external hard drive to ghost my internal hard drive at a later time . Do I need to partition my hard drive to do this? How much space does the ghost need? Does 1 GB = 1 GB or is it compressed?
